Which mod should I work on next?

Post by GrOuNd_ZeRo »

I have so many ideas for mods lately, and after I finally do release a new WD I might want to do something different to distract my self.

1. No other mods, work on the MAIN product ;) (TA:WD)
2. Mars VS Earth mod featuring interplanetary warfare, space warfare and lots of other cool stuff.
3. Command & Conquer, the good old classic, and finish it for a change opposed to other authors (i.e. Spiked Helmet and Hitman Neverlose)

I plan to use some WD models for C&C and modifying them accordingly.

I think either stick with WD or do C&C. I think part of the whole idea behind starting a new mod up now would be to push the engine into places that it hasn't gone before... basicly leave new mods until we get the new feature to really make them rock socks.

TA:WD! Its got so much potential, I'd like to see it become all that it can.

I'm eagerly looking forward to the day when TA:WD on the ground and in the sky is BF2 (multiple players FPS-controling units) while the commander guides, directs and builds bases/units. I know it can be done, and its going to be awesome when you get there.

lol not quite my vision of WD but i would look forward to a time when themed maps (with towns and such forth) are made and its possible to have missions with your freinds to for instance hold the town capture the oil well and such forth!

Well, yeah, but that's already possible with OTA. The FPS 'gimick' adds a whole new range of possibilities.

Granted, your vision sounds pretty cool too.

What's stopping you using the same models as CC ported over? They do have a modding community of their won dotn they?

Directly stealing the models would probably lead to Freecraft syndrome.

Plus, with the exception of Generals, the CnC games don't use models at all, they use voxels.

YOu could try models from CnC renegade... I mean at one time they were porting models from that into Generals

I think CnC renegade uses .w3d and .dds for textures if I remeber correctly

the mars vs earth mod would be perfect as a non-OTA mod, ideal for a copyright-free mod for Spring, it would neat a phenomenal amount of textures probably.

"...and the Martians are not above hitting you over the head with a tipple bladed diamond saw, or stabbing you in the back with a high powered mining drill. We stocked the mines with convicts and gave them the next best thing to nuclear weapons, and turned out back for a few hundred years..."

I always liked mars rebellions for some reason....

Make sure the Martians have the mine laying vehicles, because they would be mining the red planet, and what works better then nukes?
