Can you assign an AI to the gaia team, such that you can have critters?
or deadly plants, or boulder rock falls, traps like the ewoks set in ROTJ, etc etc..
Just curious atm.

yes, with gadget in map you can spawn units for gaia (or any) team and give orders to them.
Atm the only map with "critters" is duke nukem:

I started a map with cars and some other stuff and the crittering was easy but the mapping (texture, heightmap) and fixing models etc was so combersome in comparision I kind of got bored.

I also made one map with a basic AI for aliens that arrive with meteors. If you want an example look at the gadgets in this map:

The AI basically just sets move orders and toggles fire and move states based on how many aliens have been shot at by player.
