Legends of Pegasus
Game has been released in Europe.
I am reading that It's apparently extremely buggy and I cant help but wonder as to why all these 4x games are being released in such horrible, unfinished states.
sword of the stars 2 was so promising but was unplayable at release and is still buggy and unfinished, and now this...
I was sort of interested in this game after watching some of the videos...

It's because small teams have a tighter staff and tend to run out of money so the developer shoves it out of the door. I'd never trust any game that hasn't been in a beta... as far as play testing goes people say this game feels like a stiff alpha... crashes, unable to load saves and loading times like 1999.
Here's another interesting 4X game: http://starlords-game.com/main/
21 € pre-order, instantly playable
It has no ship design as of now and the tactical combat reminds of MoO1 but in it's current state, which is alpha, it's recieved rather good feedback, like more fun than Endless Space was upon release. Selling points are supposed to be the AI and diplomacy.
Ship design is to be considered if there is enough support going for it by the public, which is what the developer said on spacesector.com in the commentaries.
I just hope to see a copy of MoO2 combat and ship design which was one of it's strong points IMO.

Re: Legends of Pegasus
did you pre-order this one?
Re: Legends of Pegasus
nope. I won't buy another 4X game unless it features the two essential things of MoO2 that I'd like to see.

Finishing thoughts is overrated. Being vague is so hip.rattle wrote:nope. I won't buy another 4X game unless it features the two essential things of MoO2 that I'd like to see.
So which two things?

Re: Legends of Pegasus
Legends of Pegasus i was looking foward to this one too.
dear god not this one too..
to be honest my hope is sword of the stars 2, the first was also released in a extremely bugged state, and see how cool the game turned out to be. I trust the devs on that game, you can talk to them in the multi-player channel xD. They've changed a lot of things in the game.
Problem is im getting tired of waiting and failed releases you know.

unfinished ;/, combat to be finished, ship design to be finished, ui to be finished etc ;/Rumpelstiltskin wrote:how about FreeOrion?

Re: Legends of Pegasus
WTF is up with these 4x games...
Id play sins But i dont want a homeworld like game ATM.
I want to focus on empire management not on real time combat.
ATM, there are only 2 promising 4x games left on the horizon,
Star Lords and Stardrive.

Re: Legends of Pegasus
I wish in sins the planets would move over time, starroads collapsing while others open.. this would give the game a nice dynamic..

Great game, only bad part is the 'realistic' physics. Combat is just awkward.scifi wrote:star ruler anyone, completely lacks 3d models though but thats kk.
Re: Legends of Pegasus
Star Ruler's two problems in my opinion are that the combat is really hard to track (especially with projectiles that you can't see at any decent zoom level) and that empires are too sprawling and homogeneous to fight, planets are a dime a dozen and there aren't any key locations that you could strike to land a heavy blow, you're just fighting amorphous blobs of territory and even if you smash an empire's military force you have to sweep up its hundreds of planets.
Since I play those games for building ships and fighting with them I prefer Starfarer where you command a small mercenary fleet, no empire or anything, just a bunch of ships blowing shit up for money.

Re: Legends of Pegasus
Starfarer is a pretty cool sandbox game for it's current state... very high modability. The only thing it really lacks like Mount & Blade is coop gameplay.

So what about distant worlds? Seems like a very deep game with all its expansions packs...

UI lags make it unplayable.Rumpelstiltskin wrote:So what about distant worlds? Seems like a very deep game with all its expansions packs...
Re: Legends of Pegasus
Star ruler sucks: http://www.listal.com/game/star-ruler-pc/reviews
Distant worlds is MUCH better but has no multiplayer and imho much replayability or mod-ability. It really is a must 'rent' for any 4x fan. The "you can manage whatever you want" motto is what saves it from tedium and repetition of the stupider elements.
Moo2's ship design is really improved by the race and target enemy race proficiencies and who has what technology. EDIT: that is very late game
How about birth of the federation the open source project? same as freeorion.
Why does Legends of Pegasus make me think of Ascendancy?

Re: Legends of Pegasus
I dunno, Ascendancy was a proper game.
