unit models

Post by Dead.Rabit »

i was surfing the internet today.. (im not a developer of 3d anything) but i found this site...

http://tazone.tauniverse.com/resource/gallery.shtml

and its images
http://tazone.tauniverse.com/images/gal ... mander.jpg
http://tazone.tauniverse.com/images/gallery/bertha.jpg
http://tazone.tauniverse.com/images/gallery/nuke.jpg
http://tazone.tauniverse.com/images/gallery/peewee.jpg

and they go on... i know there was (not sure if their still is) an effort to make pretty models for spring and the not so CPU challenged.. but surely if we got hold of these things and their files they could be used at minimal as a guideline to work from... im still learning coding and havnt finished 2D graphics learning yet but i want to contribute to this game...

so if this helps anyone with anything ill be glad
tho equally i have the feeling im doing something foolish

but ah well hope 2 help

These are screenshots from the opening movie in Original Total Annihilation.

It certainly is pretty, but its also just a movie flick, and thus all of those models are impossible to use...unless you just use them as source material and make a similar looking one (which a few people have done)

Lol... those are still frames from the OTA intro movie... no one has those models. The red one actually isn't from the movie, but it's a piece of eyecandy the game displayed after a successful mission, and the same lack of having the model applies...

You've never seen the intro movie? So where'd you get the rip, was it off Emule or Kazaa?

10 years ago was 1995, that was when command and conquer was the shit, so it was more like 8 years ago, 1997...more than likely 1998 for most since it was released in october I believe.

The intro kicks ass, it really shocks me that anyone wouldn't know it practically frame-by-frame ^_^
What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of the galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fueled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For both sides, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.
I remembered that just off heart!

Yeppers... Odd that they'd miss out on that chance to throw in "total annihilation' though.
