The reason for all the pictures is that GO Launcher allows you to customize every part of the UI. As a result, it matters very much how icons look on the desktop, how folders look, what happens when you go into landscape on the desktop or in the app drawer... etc.

I understand how it would be hard for iPhone owners to understand, seeings that you can customize jack shit on an iPhone, but android owners are very well aware of this, and most of the time, the more pictures the better, especially when it is something you have to buy.

There have been plenty of non-spring related posts of art and graphics in this thread. I have made 3 posts with pictures. You may not consider UI design to be "art" but I do. It takes a lot of time and infinite fucking patience getting everything just right and editing things a pixel at a time. Not to mention coming up with the overall design in the first place. That is most definitely no picnic.

Regardless, AF's suggestion is a good one, so I have made poast in that thread. I wish knorke hadn't deleted all my pictures, because now since I'm at home on my laptop, I have to re-download them and re-upload them again. That is irritating.

Of course the first thing I do when I get my hands on an Android phone is root it, but HTC kinda made that default with unlocking the bootloader and all.

My point is that GO Launcher is free, and more than that, it is common. iPhone ui customizations are not common and not something your mom uses on a regular basis. Also, it's entertaining to note that with an iPhone, if you want to customize the ui, you have to invalidate your warranty.

There are far more extensive UIs than what Midknight posted, and nope you dont have to go as far as you do to root Android phones, you just plug your phone in and follow the instructions on a tool that does most of the work automatically.

When its time to take it to the Apple store you just sync and backup with itunes then restore from the backup you just made and all your jailbreak apps vanish and they cant tell the difference.

Then I was saying that I root all of the android phones I come across, however, it is not necessary to root an android phone to customize it on every level. I rooted because I wanted to be able to use for free things like hdmi mirroring and using my phone as a wireless router. Rooting an android phone takes all of 5 minutes of watching your computer screen.

Also, it's worth noting on a side, that the iPhone 4 is not a true 4g phone. It is fourth generation, sure, but it is not Wi-Max (4G) capable. iPhone owners got bent over the table and fucked without lube on that little piece of deceptive marketing. If I had an iphone I would go to steve jobs' house and shove it directly up his ass, sideways.

As far as warranty service on an android phone, spend 2 seconds unrooting. Send phone in. Profit???

Even better yet, if you have made a nandroid backup, you can restore your phone exactly to the state that it was at any given time.

The upshot of it is that via recovery, you can do anything warranty service could do (exception of physically working with the phone's internals).

Unless I'm mistaken, don't you have to send your iPhone in and be without it for x amount of weeks just to get the battery changed? Also, iirc when they change your battery, they also wipe your phone amirite?

Nope not art, it isn't even ui design it is just skinning an existing ui. One shot can show it easily. If it is well done the assumption is you did all pages with that skin. So no all the shots are not necessary. Even if they were you could have that in the link.

You can sit here and ego boast about your choice of phone, that doesn't make you any better. You didn't make it you just skinned it.

I think it is neat that you are branching into new areas but don't expect us to care beyond "neat"

Xiaomi MI-One Announced; Runs on MIUI ROM

Hmm, MIUI is indeed a nice rom, but it's interesting to note how similar the specs of this phone and the Evo 4G are. This phone is missing hdmi out tho and a few small other things. I'd be interested to know that if it's running MIUI if the bootloader is unlocked by default. If so, that's 100% awesome.

I flashed MIUI and used it for a while. Very very nice, but I prefer MikG more. My brother and his wife are running CyanogenMod 7, which is also super nice and the only AOSP rom that I really care for. However, recently you can flash a rom with HTC Sense 3.5, which is beyond bad fuckinass: ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcNokt97O6Q )

About the kickstand, you have no idea how awesome having a kickstand is. It is probably the best convenience feature I have ever seen on a phone. Why they didn't add it to the view tablet I will never know.

Wrt ego boasting... Not really ego boasting. Every phone manufacturer has been trying to match the evo 4g since it came out. Even the iPhone 5 won't beat it. It's a little bit impossible to explain if you don't have an Android phone. Suffice it to say, that it's like carrying an infinitely customizable/moddable laptop around in your pocket everywhere you go.

Since you ask, 4G is on a separate antenna, meaning that you can be on a phone call and surfing the web. Also, 4g has a max speed of like 7mb/3 or 4mb, so it is very significant.

Also, the discussion became about phones and customization ability.

Not that I care to go into it, but 3g antenna is the same as the one used for calling. 3g will shut off when a phone call is active. Generally speaking. That isn't to say that some phones don't have separate antennas, but generally they use the same antenna, therefore, you can use one or the other, but not both simultaneously.
