Make a new thread for each engine test release.

Post by smoth »

I cannot track down specific test releases because the first post of the test release thread is repeatedly deleted and thus deleting file/version history for me.

reminds me.. we should link back from the wiki to the individual forum threads per testing release... will do that now.
edit: abma has already done it :-)

yeah, it is good to have histories on things. You never know when some dev might break something randomly and have to repeat the tedious debug process all over again or when random user issues cause things.

Seconded, very much so. Tbh I found it hard to participate (of course, part of that had to do with the fact that installing a test version would interfere with my dev version(no longer an issue <3 isolation) and baw baw my daddy didn't love me, etc) in testing because to be perfectly honest, a single thread where the op was updated means that the comments following were almost always irrelevant by the time I saw it, and it was hard to find what the latest was, or what bugs I should be looking for, etc.

Perhaps a sub forum for build testing threads just be opened? Once a new version is out the threads preceding that release could be archived, maintaining and fairly clean and easy to navigate forum.

Also, making the lobby server use google apis to interface for user accounts.

Lobby using google APIs for interface wouldnt happen here, you'd need to fork it and then run it on your own server such that you could prove it worked reliably. You'd also need a hefty dose of client side voodoo
