Lag when placing mex
Anyone knows why the new version of BA would become really slow when placing mexes? When the dark and green view of metal spots is activated, my FPS goes from 150 to less than 1. This is on Ubuntu Maverick 64bits.

Re: Lag when placing mex
Maybe try to deactivate MexSnap widget if it happens only when actually placing mexes.
Try deactivating HighlightGeos if it happens when you switch to F4-View even without placing mexes.

Thank you. That did not solve the problem. I had tried deactivating the mex snap as that was my first thought too, but it didn't help. Actually its nearly impossible to place a mex now without mex swap because I get like one frame every 4 seconds. Its really extreme, slows down my starts a lot and prevents any sort of ground capture.

Re: Lag when placing mex
It is not what it seemed. Turns out it also happens on old versions of BA, but it started happening exactly on my first game of the latest version.
It still happens with luaui disable. Using the ALT-B key to see the performance values, it shows CPU LOAD going to 100% when entering the mex area view.
I'll look into it but it has nothing to do with the latest BA upgrade.

Re: Lag when placing mex
I recommend using areamex instead for placing mexes till you fix this, it doesnt go into mex view and is useful anyways
does this happen with F4 view?
with every type of mex or just normal 'metal extractor'?
if its not a widget then you could try messing with spring settings maybe find something related to mexes
it seems very similar to the problem caused by mex snap
