Krogoth Explosion

Post by qray »

Hi,

I wanted to ask, what other players think about the amount of damage of the explosion of a killed Kroggie?

Maybe I' am playing completely the wrong tactic, but I find it a bit annoying, that even if you can kill one (two, three... more), advancing Kroggies, if they manage to come close to your defense line, they (automatically) explode so massive, that the whole (or half) of your stationary defense vanishes with them. And then the spam with rather weak units through this hole starts...
A big explosion is IMHO be totally ok for Self-D -so at least some timing skill and micro would be involved- , but without any effort or skill -just sending them- they can slowly "bomb" holes in even tight and powerful defenses...
... a bit boring (and sometimes frustrating, being an ARM player ;)).

Yeah, I know, "kill it before it is at your base" would be a tactic, but it still feels a bit overpowered compared to other T3 units (also given the fact, that EMP doesn't work on Kroggies, which in itself is IMHO totally fine).

Are others thinking this is a bit too much, too?

imo you should not be in a position where you have a well defined static line as defence by this point in the game, you should kill the krog way out in no mans land. honestly though, chances are you could have ended the game waaay sooner with a bombing run if the enemy is sending krogs.

Some defense line in a way or another, may it be really a line with stationary defense or separate "islands" spread out or whatever the map design and game development leads to is -at least in the games i play- often existing at this point. Of course there is also mobile defense using troups, but they also get blown up if too close - especially if you don't have enough Banthas, Penetrators or Sharp Shooters at hand at this point in time.

Depends on the way the game develops. And bombing runs only work "game deciding" the first time, if there's not enough anti air up on the other side. In the next game, the opponent will be prepared. And if you don't play "com kill ends game", usually this hurts but does not have to end the game.

But to sum up: sure, there are other ways to end a game than with Kroggies and well over 80% of the games I play don't get to the point, where they appear massively. And even in these games, one can sometimes manage to get rid of them still far enough enough.
Still, the main point I asked was not if you should counter a Kroggie in no mans land - which is surely the best way but especially on small maps or if bases are close quite hard. My question was if other people also think, that its explosion is too powerful?

But since nobody else answered, I guess I am the only one bothered with this - or the focus of discussion is currently drawn very much to the new BA release and its implications ;)

first of all, u should be the one making krogs and enemy spamming defence.

secondly, krog already got bigger damage when selfd

Explode As: NUCLEAR_MISSILE 79.17 1041.67 8.33 9500
Self-D As: CRBLMSSL 63.89 1041.67 8.33 11500
(last one is damage)

last but not least, when u reach the point when enemy spam krogs, u should selfd and cover in shame ;)

I know, all I say is, that the relationship of Explode being about 80% of Self-D is imo a bit high.
Bantha has about 55% of Self-D when exploding, this would mean for a Krog about 6300 instead of 9500 damage (also area of effect might be a point then).

The rest of the previous post is not helpful, so I'll ignore it...
