spring.exe leading to system crash
Hi, I have just downloaded and attempted to run spring for the first time but have come across a problem.
Whenever I (or another program) try to run spring.exe it immediately leads to my laptops screen going black and my laptop failing to respond to anything else. Use of the windows button, ctrl+alt+del, ctrl+shit+esc, nothing registers, my only way out it to turn the machine off and back on again.
This happens every time, no matter if I double click spring.exe, or if spring lobby or anything else tries to access it instead. The spring lobby loaded fine, but as soon as I had finished selecting what I wished to play the lobby tried to run spring.exe and the crash occurred.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling from various sources (both just the spring download and the kernel panic game download).
I am running Windows 7 home premium on a 64 bit Dell n5010. I have tried updating the video drivers (intel HD graphics card) in case this was the problem but there has been no change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
I've just pasted the infolog (though it was in C:\Games\Spring if that makes any difference - doubt it though).
Thanks

change to windowed in springsettings (not fullscreen).
What is your GFX card?

Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
Intel (HD) Graphics is all device manager calls it and I shall try windowed mode now.
Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
Windowed mode loaded fine!
Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
As it seems I am stuck with windowed mode (at least for now) is there a way to set where the window appears? I have to reposition and resize the window every time I do anything.
Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
You should rename the topic "Intel HD leading to system crash"

Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
My eyes glazed over after I saw the word "Laptop".
Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
I must be missing something here . . .

They are making fun of your graphics card... or lack thereof.Loki_J wrote:I must be missing something here . . .
The stance of a high percentage of the community is that it's funny when people complain that Spring doesn't run on their crappy computers.
Sorry.
Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
Ah, fair enough, it's hardly high end. I'll just have to plod along in windowed mode until I get myself a decent computer later this year.
Thanks for the help anyway.

Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
How can anyone honestly use the terms Intel and HD in the same sentence and keep a straight face?
Re: spring.exe leading to system crash
Sadly the term "HD" means that it can output 720p video at 30fpsForboding Angel wrote:How can anyone honestly use the terms Intel and HD in the same sentence and keep a straight face?
