Map Texture Help

Post by TR8 »

I made my first map, and it appears to be working nearly perfectly. The texture image that displays in the lobby is squeezed vertically and messed up, and in-game, the texture does not display at all. The texture image was saved as a 24-bit .bmp, and I used with MapConv.exe... Anyone know what might have happened?

My guess would be that after compiling the smt, you renamed the file.

Forboding, I don't think I changed the name. I'll recompile just in case.

Screenshot of the texture in SpringLobby: The map is compressed to the top half, and then several more copies appear below it, and the bottom is black. The other two maps look fine in SpringLobby, though.

I don't know about your texture though. Does it look like this in game?

No; in-game, the texture looks perfect. However, the minimap is pure noise, nothing relating to the map itself showing.

use http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=16341 to compile map, never worry about problems such as colordepth or commandline bla again.

The world is a bad map, africa always looses, europe is just in the way, russia and china get everyhwere, while north and southamerigo kick each others nuts.

Why not connect antactica with southamerigo, australia and soutafrica?

I think the world is a good thing to play with when making your first map. We all know it, we all love it. Good gateway map if you ask me.

Yeah that's how I began here. I made a USA map then Europe map. Complete with real data from elevation and vegetation maps to determine the types of trees. I couldn't balance them right and hovercraft hated them, then I started losing my mind and I made a Mandelbrot Set map and finally a giant pizza. It all went downhill after that.
