Hmmph
I find the .NET platform quite nice. A language-agnostic VM is a great idea.
CSharp, on the other hand, is a barbaric language. A carbon-copy of Java that retains all of the original's faults. Java claimed to be "C++ without the C" when it was really "Visual Basic with the bare-minimum OOP featureset and C syntax".
/detests C
//detests Java
///detests C#
////detests C++ without the full STL and the Boost libraries
/////detests just about every other language, including your "but this one is good".
//////Generally finds programming very frustrating.

While I agree that C++ is, if not the best, then close to it, some other languages do come in handy
Visual Basic is good for learning, and making simple programs.
Java applets run in web pages.
PHP, Perl, whatever the other ones are work to make dynamic webpages. Like this whole site.
But I think this thread is just another random thread monohouse created. Oh, woe unto me for suggesting he complain on the forums about the right-click mode.
