I would like to have engine and LUPS issues fixed if possible. I'm willing to lend some developer ATI5850 for at least 6 months.

I have a 5970, not sure I'm the right person to fix it, but do you have a list of these issues?

Yes. Issues vary from driver to driver however.
On latest driver 10.7:
- trees/features are invisible
- 3do models lack texture
- shorewaves not working
- horizontal artifacts (z-fighting-like) on ground/water
- bumpmapped water not displaying any waves except from very small angle
- lups air jitter not working on flames etc - but works on explosions
On catalyst 10.4 it is:
- no shadows visible (NEW TO 0.82)
- strange white toning of 3do models (NEW TO 0.82)
- map is gray-white in F4 mode (NEW TO 0.82)

- lups air jitter not working
- lups jets not working (NEW TO 0.82)
- lups ribbons not working (NEW TO 0.82)

Oh also forget - lups cloaked units in CA are completely invisible.

I'm not really a fan of the new gray metal map look at all (I'm using nvidia)
I often play in metal map view (to darken the map and always see metal spots for strategic reasons). Looks terrible as that gray color.

the metal view change was done as kind of a quick-fix/work-around for too dark metal spots.
some change since last release made metal spots in F4 view darker, and the ones under water very hardly visible anymore. with a proper fix for that, the other change to the F4 view could be reverted.
there is a mantis report for this bug, and i think i even bisected the commit that cause the regression... (searching)

I like the new metal map view, a lot. I just wish it made everything grey instead of only certain colours.
