1944 (v1.07) Finalizing hangup

Post by Renthal »

Hello, I having trouble with the 1944 mod v1.07 (operation lyuban).
Currently every time i start spring, 1944 will load until the load screen says "finalizing...". then spring hangs up. it dosen't crash, i have to shut down spring manually from windows.

additionally i can run BA, CA, Gundam rts. I just cant get 1944 to work.

My spring version is 0.81.2.1
my graphics drivers are up to date.
I have intel integrated graphics (could this be the problem?)
I have included my info log
infolog.txt
infolog.txt
(34.25 KiB) Downloaded 112 times
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly I would suggest using a more recent version than Lyuban. If you have Spring Downloader, you can get the latest test version built right from our SVN (just like CA)

Ok, ive used both test build 2821 and Pre-M RC1. Spring now freezes at 0 in game prep (3..2..1..0 then freeze). Still does not crash.

I'm a little perplexed, no-one has reported this problem before. :(

I thought perhaps the flag spawner was locking up your machine, but that's pretty hard to believe on a (very) small map like caucasus.

It's pretty unlikely. Are you trying to play with bots other than CRAIG?

Well, that shouldn't happen. CRAIG is included in the svn repo the test versions are built from. :(

Hello, I just got a newer spring release, 0.82.1.0. hoping this would help with the errors i was having with 1944, i installed it.It has helped, now spring loads 1944, but when i get to the game, there's nothing on the map, just the start position. However, this did leave a new infolog.txt because it crashed when i closed spring.

At the end of the log it left this stacktrace:
[ 2507] Stacktrace:
[ 2507] (0) C:\Windows\system32\ig4dev32.dll [0x05A8D4A5]
What does it mean?

That's a file associated with your intel graphics driver. Most likely the crash is an issue with your drivers and the new Spring engine, not S44.

However, If using Spring 0.82+, please use the test version of S44, it has updates that deal with breaking changes made in the engine i.e. RC1 won't spawn start units, but any test version after 2801 inclusive will work right.

At least with regards start units. :P

Can you try one of these maps:

AavikkoV2
Alpine way v3
Altair_Crossing-V1

And see if it hangs?

Alright so i tried both Aavikko V2 and Alpine way v3. Alpine 3 had the same results as before, but i actually saw flags drawn on the mini map in Aavikko right before it hung up. This info log is the log from the aavikko map.

[ 5] Map Flag Profile not found. Autogenerating flag positions.
I suggested those 3 maps as they have pre-written flag positions, but it seems that it isn't working for Aavikko. Could be due to a change in how the engine handles map names in 82. :(

It's included in the s44 mod files.

I'll take a look at optimising the flag placement code (and fixing the pre-written profiles) but my PC is broken right now so I don't have access to the files.
