Need altnerate way to adjust unit line spacing

Post by CaptainMaim »

Main Concern:
I've got a mouse with 10 mouse buttons and one with 6 and neither can use the unit line spacing options that I've read about. I take a builder, I hold shift, I drag a line, and I start messing with my 5th and 6th and well.. Every mouse button in an attempt to adjust the line spacing. The mouse buttons in question are assigned to their original functions. (Which sadly doesn't include "Be 5th mouse button" or whatever Spring's looking for.)

So I was just wondering what the command was for unit spacing so I could add it into my UIKEYS.TXT configuration file and change the spacing myself. I've looked through the source code for it. But I'm source code illiterate, and since no one's willing to help me find the names of the commands so I can fix my own keys (it'd be nice if the UIkeys.txt actually HAD all the bound keys in it. Then I could just change the keys without problems.)

I've read the stuff in the Wiki. And I'm not talking about that. What I want to know is stuff like this:

(Sample:)
-----Key:---Command:
bind up moveforward
bind down moveback

bind right moveright
bind left moveleft
bind alt moveslow
bind ctrl movefast
bind pageup moveup
bind pagedown movedown
bind esc quit
bind backspace mousestate
bind home increaseViewRadius
bind end decreaseViewRadius

Except this listing's incomplete, it doesn't list the commands for a large vareity of the keys. Such as the repair command (likely "repair") or the unbound "resurrect" command, nor the unbound build menu scroll commands, nor a number of other bound or unbound commands which I would very much like to have the option of altering, binding or unbinding at my leisure.

Auxillary Concern:

I really can't see why my inquiries about hotkeys are so trivial to everyone? Am I the only one bothered by the fact that I have to do things with the mouse that I could do with the keyboard far more quickly and efficently? (Such as scrolling a unit's build menus back to where their commands are in order to use the resurrect or restore or order repeat functions? Or worse! Like when my commander's running for his life and I cloak him and I have to scramble through his build menus to turn off his fire at will function, lest he be discovered swiftly! I'm just asking for some help here and I can't see why I'm getting ignored on this subject.)

I care... they seem to not want to assign keys and menus cause they think it will clutter things up... personally I would rather have the option... just like in quake you COULD bind a weapon scroll key, or you could just bind the weapond you like... or you could bind mouselook or just have it active automatically...

Double spaced weapon-buildings

It misses the point of your main post somewhat, though I heartily agree with your point, but I can't help wondering if 90% of the buliding spacing problem would go away if only there was some simple rule like "if the building has a weapon, use a spacing of x, otherwise use a spacing of zero", where x can either be the buliding size, or some fixed spacing applied to all buildings with weapons.
