NOTA tourney?
I was thinking, should I try and host some kind of NOTA tourney? and if so what kind of tourney would people be interested in playing? 1v1, 2v2 or ?v? ?
Re: NOTA tourney?
I'd be interested, but with how much I stuggle at times, I would probably prefer 2v2/3v3.
Re: NOTA tourney?
Anywhere from 2v2 to 4v4.
Re: NOTA tourney?
Having only played NOTA about 4 times i think i would only kill my team's chances of winning so i think either it would have to be one v one or giant teams v giant teams if people who suck at NOTA wanted to compete.
Re: NOTA tourney?
1v1 nota is a whole world different from 2v2 and higher. and at the moment it doesnt seem that there is sufficient playerbase to form an actual tourney, you would already know at least top 2-3 places.
Additionally, before vashps has to be fixed before the event.

Re: NOTA tourney?
the way im thinking of running it, is bo3 with a lower bracket, 5 mappool ( 3 land, 1 sea, and 1 sea and land mix).
So, i need suggestions for the maps.
i thought this was a nice land/sea map: http://www.springfiles.com/show_file.php?id=831
and this a nice land map: http://www.springfiles.com/show_file.php?id=2289
anyway, suggestions plz
(for the land maps i dont want maps that effectively work as two 1v1's on each different side of the map)

Re: NOTA tourney?
maps have to be symmetrical and i think 16x16 is more or less right.
Re: NOTA tourney?
They don't really need to be symmetric, they only need to be balanced. There are asymmetric balanced maps.

Re: NOTA tourney?
thats what i mean. but totally assymetic maps arent fair in competitive play.
Re: NOTA tourney?
Don't see a point in a team tourney unless there's several teams who actually practice NOTA together, random teams are often just sad uncoordinated mess from a spectator point of view.
Pretty surely you have more players who can play alone

Re: NOTA tourney?
i dont think theres people who really practice 2v2 in any mod, but theres players and 2v2 are very common, so it seems like a fitting comp format.
Re: NOTA tourney?
i know that people said this before but, nota's player base is far too small...everyone knows everyone, and everyone has a good estimate of the hierarchy of skill(sort of makeing a tourney pointless, who wants 2 play a game that they already know the outcome....)
while nota games do get intense, in general nota's community is not all that competitive.....(this is why , in most cases, nota players are friendly to noobs/others.... *ehemunlikextaandbaehem *)
also, 2vs2/3vs3/4vs4 works the best....i personaly hate 1 vs 1....
i think have some premeditated and pre-planned large sized games is a better idea....hell this might get some old nota players 2 play....

Re: NOTA tourney?
I think a tourney could work. 2v2 is my format of choice. There is not that many nota players true. But i think there is as many as when the crabe tourny was hosted(and that almost worked, it did get the players in the end , i just dont think morph pushed it hard enough). Sure there will be games that we will know the outcome b4 they start. But there will be upsets and epic matchs too and it worth it for that imo!!

Re: NOTA tourney?
Tourney is a great idea. You will attract more players from ba and other mods as many people just like the competition.
1v1 is the only option really, too few players and very difficult to organise larger games.
