While riding my bike today, and pondering the state of the NKG's economic setup, I came up with an interesting and potentially good idea. After mulling it over a little more I thought I'd see what some of the others here think.
I've always been a little discontent with how storage is usually done in Spring, that is, the idea of building a building to store more metal, or to store more energy. Getting more resources is good, and for metal it sort of makes sense (something like a warehouse) but for energy I always thought it was a little goofy. It should be noted my knowledge of electricity is rudimentary at best.
Basically, I thought maybe having mobile units, in my case some sort of smaller cruiser, serve as storage units. Allowing them to be mobile would provide an obvious potential for strategical or tactical maneuvers. If you're wondering "Why bother?" the problem I have with the norm is mostly in concept.
I could possibly utilize the mobile/immobile form I've already implemented for my Flagship and one other unit. I'm not exactly sold on that, but it's still an option.
So, opinions?

Sounds like an interesting idea, although in my opinion most people would probably "Build it and forget it", as energy storage is something you just build as you climb. A suggestion maybe is to make it a mobile repair shop on top of it. That way, people might risk moving it instead of just leaving it in base until doomsday or victory.

Hmm, so you're suggesting to give it a secondary function? Probably a good idea. Storage is pretty mundane and static.

Yea, a secondary function would be a good thing, else its basically going to be a storage building in all cases but retreat.SanadaUjiosan wrote:Hmm, so you're suggesting to give it a secondary function? Probably a good idea. Storage is pretty mundane and static.

Instead of making it a storage function, maybe have the ships dependent on fuel and ammunition on resupply ships. That way resupply lines make a difference.

Something I'd really like to implement in the whole faction is a more traditional population system, like Houses or Supply Depots. The concept of supply ships that I imagine mimic that better than resource storage...
After talking with some of my friends about it, I decided I'll probably utilize the morph between mobile/immobile forms that I've used for a handful of my other units. The immobile form would have a lot more storage, but obviously be immobile and to be honest, mostly like standard storage. With the ability to morph into a mobile form though, it'd give the edge of being able to flee when the base is being blowed up. The mobile form would still provide storage, but very little. Like 50 I'm thinking.
As snoop put it, I'd just be adding a feature, not taking any away.
