GRTS problem

Post by oksnoop2 »

I have GRTS1.2f2. There is no UI and units build instantly with out collecting resources. Is it supposed to be like that?

did you get it from smoth directly?
http://smoth.net/foram/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4190

smoth has been "gone" since early february... I think he may not have released a new version since the latest spring so it's entirely possible that there are glitches... If I recall correctly the Gundam RTS resource system is mostly Lua-Wizardry so it's entirely possible it's been pooched.

Gundam uses a completely different sort of building system. Everything builds at once via conyards and stuff, there are also 3 resources.

But if you actually go out and test, theres no UI and units build instantly, and its not supposed to be like that.

Maybe dont reply if you dont have anything relevant to say to the issue asked?

Finding a good version of GRTS feels like an Easter Egg hunt to me, but zwzsg's post of the video actually led me to find 1.21, which I just opened and actually looks good and complete. I'm anxious to try this in a real game now.

Thanks, I think you ironed out our problem.

WTF, I linked you to 1.21 on the first reply... how is that an easter egg hunt and why did it take you watching a youtube video to find something plain as day on the authors homepage?

I get no respect I tell you.

Must have been a case of stupid on my part, for whatever reason I thought the link was to 1.20. I'm prone to make mistakes like that you see. No reason to get defensive.

Probably Spring Files. But that was a long time ago, so I'm not sure.

That's okay, your allowed to be stupid as long as you are willing to admit it.

That sounds like JohannesH got the same bad version. There's probably a link that ought to be corrected somewhere, which is why I asked: where did you get 1.2f2 from?

Straight from the horse's mouth:

1.2f2 is from April of 2009, and is the latest version on SpringFiles solely because it was the last version small enough to post there. It is not my fault that the person responsible for the site has a file size limit, nor my fault that none of you can use google, nor my fault that you are trying to play a test version that is almost a year old.

There is a Gundam forum, http://forums.smoth.net/. Don't expect me to make updates on the Spring site because this place is filled with trolls and you can get nothing productive done here. If you want to talk to me you know where to find me.

Well, I guess I'll know where to go now. Just thought I could find anything Spring related by looking through the Spring sites. A reasonable assumption if you ask me.

Thanks Peet

Some people aren't reasonable... Also, would you expect to find the "Golden Eye: Source" Mod on valve's homepage because it is for the Source engine?

Yes, actually. Steam also links to mods. But that's being finicky, and in this case, he does kinda have a point. And of course, they're an organised company, whilst 'we' aren't.
