Teamcolor Problems

Post by SanadaUjiosan »

So there's a bug/problem I've noticed for a loooong time in my project, but I've put it off for... well, no good reason, other than apathy.

I've noticed that whenever units from opposing sides (or players, in an all-human game) get near each other, they change their team colors. Like if a red unit and a blue unit get close enough, they'll both turn blue. Or red.

They're still enemies, but the team color changes, and I don't need to explain how not-good that is. So, any thoughts on this?

There seem to be more teamcolor issues, I have also seen this switching, but with distant underwater units.

There are a few items on Mantis wrt teamcolour switches:

http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=1816
http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=1826
http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=1761

to just show three recent ones. Perhaps you can add to the information presented therein in order to speed up detection and fixing of these bugs.

I have the same problem. I reported it a couple time, but lost hope of it getting fixed.

I've never seen it. Is it another ATi problem?

... But I have a Nvidia card. And I've never noticed this before I started work on my own units and whatnot.

Try to figure out what you have in common and add that to the bug report. (Spring settings, driver version, etc.)

I've nvidia too and except for cloaked units I haven't seen this bug yet.

I seem to recall some people saying that this bug only occurred with reflective units disabled.

Actually I'm surprised no one had reported it sooner, loads of people have had this problem.

Back in 0.81.1.3 I had that bug only when reflective unit was disabled. Now I have that bug no matter what's the state of AdvUnitShading.

Tobi: Considering they have NVIDIA and I have ATI, I doubt we can find the cause in a common driver.
