This has become a serious issue in Spring's gameplay. I am making this thread as an announcement. So many people are using their own cute little widgets inspired by my "ARM BOI RUNNIN" marker i made a few years ago. Now whenever I scout in a *A mod, some noobs have widgets that mark every single advanced solar and pewee, and others like Jazcash say obnoxious things like "ARM BOI FAPPING" which is obviously a crude ripoff of the old memes. To counter this and as a proof of concept, I made a widget that labeled every single enemy unit with points and explanations, as well as features and corpses. NO ONE EVEN NOTICED ANYTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THE SPAMMAGE OF 100 POINTS A SECOND.

Now dont get me wrong, i love the spring drawing system. No better way to plan your battle, draw your idling teammates attentions, and humiliate your enemies with jiz and cock. However, there is a blatant abuse going on that is really annoying.

THERE IS A SOLUTION. Nio made a very nice widget [insert link here] called unit marker that makes sure more than 1 person does not mark a unit. This would cut down to about 20-30% of its current amounts to something more tolerable and possibly useful. Please, use that script, and delete your "hilarious" unit marker scripts, since they arent actually funny or useful.

It's Boi (Fappin') for an idle Com and Boi (Runnin') for a moving one. Why do you have use me as an example, there's an awful lot more people out there with much more annoying spam widgets than me.

The solution is different imo. I previously requested markers and drawings get a local tag unless specified (manually placed ones go global) , that way only the person whos widget placed it sees it.

Spring.MarkerAddPoint(x, y, z[, text, local ])

local = 0; Spam everyone and get kicked.
local = 1; Only you can see the point.

Now reach into everyone's computers and replace their widgets. It's that simple!

Or someone could get all the commonly used pointspam widgets, fix them with local and upload them in a pack. Anyone which pointspams can then be warned and told to download the updated pack.

Local marks have been in stable for a long time. It really shows how poor the changelogs and wiki are when only a few people know about this. I only discovered it when I made a typo in Spring.MarkerAddPoint. Eg:

Change it to make local default to 1.

Can I have that widget? I'm not either so fond of my allies marking what they have not seen, which is why I consider unit marker morally cheating. And no better way to make your point than to exaggerate.

Please dont ask for it, he tried to make me use it without telling me what it was, lucky i read the file before using it. in the mean time he spammed points for every unit in los, and even better, he sent radar planes on move order from his base to the enemies

but yeah, its totally possible to make a widget that marks things locally even without points. People are just froobs though...

This should be spammed into #main about 9 times a day.

It's the COMNAP WARNING one which is the most annoying. If an enemy trans is just sitting there doing nothing, everybody with the widget will instantly cover the entire map with COMNAP WARNING. And even if it was an attempt to comnap, the person with the com wouldn't be able to see shit and would be lagging out with so many points being spammed. It is the most annoying/pointless widget and should be banned.

its funny when theres a drop of janus/flash/whatever to kill a comm he cant reactwith the 1000 markers spamed in seconds

This is very easy to solve, make a lua gadget that starts deleting a players oldest points or marks after maybe 200-300 points... or if so many points come within a second, anti spam protection logs in and deletes all of what that one player drew, giving the player 3 strikes or hes out.

Better yet: only allow non-1 if a game option allows it, or an upper limit on the number of points / drawings allowed per player.
