Battlescreen request: loading and saving of unit restriction
K, it's a huge time saver to allow us to create a list of units we want blocked from a game, and save that list. OTA had it. It's a good idea for future releases IMO.
btw did you know that restrictions list in ta didnt friggn work?
and here is a partial list for lvl 1 only stuff from a replay of a game that paulada hosted.
then naval planes lab is missing from here.
games like this are a bit slow.

Code: Select all
Unit0=armaap;
Limit0=0;
Unit1=armaca;
Limit1=0;
Unit2=armack;
Limit2=0;
Unit3=armalab;
Limit3=0;
Unit4=armasy;
Limit4=0;
Unit5=armavp;
Limit5=0;
Unit6=armhp;
Limit6=0;
Unit7=coraap;
Limit7=0;
Unit8=coralab;
Limit8=0;
Unit9=corasy;
Limit9=0;
Unit10=coravp;
Limit10=0;
Unit11=corhp;
Limit11=0;
Unit12=corplat;
Limit12=0;
Is this really lvl 1? By only lvl1, I mean you can build builder but can't make lvl2 structure like gaat canon or gardian.mongus wrote:btw did you know that restrictions list in ta didnt friggn work?

i guess the list above, restricts all lvl2 labs.(but the arm seplane lab, its missing..).
doing that, its impossible to build lvl2 stuff.
all that is buildable by lvl1 kbots or structures, is lvl1.
so, gaats are lvl1, as ambushers etc. (inmmolator O_O).
playing this way should really test the lvl1 balance in xta, arm vs core.
(even if xta wasn't intended to be this way.)

If gaat are lvl 1, LLT are level 0 ?mongus wrote:i guess the list above, restricts all lvl2 labs.(but the seplane lab, its missing..).

I thinked lvl 1 = build by commander,
lvl 2 = build by builder
lvl 3 = build by advanced builder
Becasue, lvl 1 units versus some gaat don't have any chances.
they do, its just.. you have to use a different approach to play.
btw.. we are talking about xta here, aint we?
and... the description of the lvl1 const kbot says, "builds lvl1 structures"...
what commander builds is... the most handfull stuff.
im not sure to call that a level.
commander is an incomplete build unit.
commander itself seems a lvl3(?) unit.
..
E: there is no such "builds lvl1 structures" where did i get that from?
still, says tech level 1

I believe Torrasque is correct, so LLT=lvl1, HLT=lvl2, BLoD=lvl3. That would make Krogoth and 3rd party stuff coming out of the gantry lvl 4, correct?Torrasque wrote:I thinked lvl 1 = build by commander,

[edit in response to following posts]sorry, wasn't thinking. What I should have said was that stuff build by Con units built by the gantries would be lvl4, and yes, they do exist. They just haven't been ported to Spring yet (I don't think), although I wouldn't know about TAUIP or UTASP...

iirc, it's lvl 1 = builder+commFizWizz wrote:I believe Torrasque is correct, so LLT=lvl1, HLT=lvl2, BLoD=lvl3. That would make Krogoth and 3rd party stuff coming out of the gantry lvl 4, correct?Torrasque wrote:I thinked lvl 1 = build by commander,

which would make the korogoth lvl3
Hm. Units arent buildings... And as the commander cant build units, L1 units come out of a L1 factory, L2 out of a L2 and L3 out of the gantry....FizWizz wrote:I believe Torrasque is correct, so LLT=lvl1, HLT=lvl2, BLoD=lvl3. That is what I said : a level 2 factory is a lvl 2 building, like the gaat.IMSabbel wrote:Hm. Units arent buildings... Happy I'm not the only one who think like that.
I've just verified in the manual ( http://galactica.tauniverse.com/Resources/tamanual.pdf ) if you don't have it.
Gaat are described as level 2 buildings (page 45,46)
edit : Perhaps we could speak of lvl1+ and lvl1- to make everybody happy ?

there are mods with level 3 labs.
and what comes out of that labs is "level 3 units".
not level 4.
The adv. Kbot lab, is a "tech level 1" structure, that produces "tech level 2" units.
Why?, because its built by a level 1 const. unit.
so. strictly, what should be banned from the list, is all kbots and stuff lvl2, not adv. labs (lvl2 labs), but its easyr to ban the labs than the units.
e: frigging manual and pdf digitall format, that should have been burned and forgotted.

That manual is for OTA, not XTA. The HLT towers are normally built by adv construction units.Torrasque wrote:I've just verified in the manual ( http://galactica.tauniverse.com/Resources/tamanual.pdf ) if you don't have it.

We should re-classify all this stuff...
Commander=Level 0
Stuff OTA commander can build =Level 1 Buildings
Stuff Level 1 Buildings buil=Level 1 Units
Stuff Level 1 units can build=Level 2 Buildings
Stuff Level 2 Buildings Build=Level 2 units
Stuff Level 2 units can Build=Level 3 buildings
Stuff Level 3 Buildings Build=Level 3 units
and possibly go from there... I know it's not the classic way to describe it but it's the most accurate
Classically you went from level 1 to advanced to experimental/unclassified I think...

sorry but Hlt tower are build by a simple construction k-bot in OTA too.Kuroneko wrote:That manual is for OTA, not XTA. From the manual:
"The Level 1 Construction Vehicle can
build Level 1 and 2 structures"
whats the point of being tech level 1 if it can build tech level 2 ???
also the HLT and the gollie are in the same tech level. (level 2).
(no kuroneko, hlts were always there).
e:
What Simbadev wrote makes sense, its logicall, and its the way it was.
anyhow, i rather this.
commander + lvl1 builders + lvl1 labs = builds level 1 stuff.
adv. labs + adv. builders = builds level 2 stuff.
e: sorry was editing the post. but as you see, i dont like the tech tree you propose, its just a taste thing, bc that way is ok too.

I'm not sure I understand you ...If for you hlt, gardian, missile tower, geo are lvl 2mongus wrote:"The Level 1 Construction Vehicle can

So if you think that, we have the same opinonand the HLT and the gollie are in the same tech level. (level 2).

e: I agree, it's a matter of taste. I like SimbadEv solution because units are stronger than their respecitve lvl static defance. It result a more dynamic game imo.
I think its related to the function the equipment performs.
Hlts do not replace llts, but are complementary, (llts provide los range, hlts target stronger units), as well as defenders, plasma cannons, and all stuff included in the lvl1 tech.
(commander + lvl1 builders + lvl1 labs = builds level 1 stuff.)
(adv. labs + adv. builders = builds level 2 stuff.)
(that lvl1 tech).
Level 2 tech, partially overlaps functions with level 1 tech, (hawks-freedomfighters, vulture-peepers, bulldogs-stumpy...
(flaks defenders, hlts vhlts, ).
(Still is a good idea to mix these units, bc of cost)
eventually, there is some kind of 1.5 tech level, vipers, inmmolators, hovers...
