I just discovered Spring tonight, and I decided to check it out. Still trying to get the hang of things, and I've been reading files and forum posts, but one thing I've noticed is that I can't seem to get any sounds in the games.
I got XTA 9.59, Evolution RTA - pre-alpha - Test 25, and Kernel Panic 3.7. No sounds in any of them. I checked on YouTube and saw some videos of people playing with sounds, just to make sure the mods had them. The volume sliders are all at max, my speakers are on, Windows XP is playing its sounds just fine, but I get nothing in Spring. Even checked F6 to make sure.
So I'm at a bit of a loss as how to get this fixed. I'd seen similar issues for people with Linux or Vista, but nothing for XP. Any help would be appreciated.

This may be dumb but... Check your game settings (springsettings.exe). It's possible that some of the audio sliders could have gotten muted of something.

And yeah, I checked the SpringSettings, and every slider's at max.
Well, there it is. For some reason the thing can't detect my primary sound device. In case it's pertinent, I'm using Realtek HD Audio, generic Windows XP sound driver, the latest of course. Not that there's any Spring setting I've seen where different sound devices can be selected, so I'm not even sure how this one gets fixed.

*bump* Anybody have any ideas on this?
Re: No sound in any mods on Windows XP
Take a look at this: http://springlobby.info/issues/1251
I think you have to dl http://cloud.github.com/downloads/sprin ... ibs_v20.7z & replace $(SPRING)/OpenAL32.dll with one from archive.

Re: No sound in any mods on Windows XP
As a side note, mumble disabled my ingame sounds after a while, i had to reinstall my entire sound driver to get working sound again.
Re: No sound in any mods on Windows XP
Well, I've replaced the file as advised, and it works like a charm. Yay for sound! Thank you to everyone here.
