Re: V0.81.0
If it crashes, and says spring has crashed, then post the infolog.txt. Otherwise, you cant play online with 0.81 yet.
Re: V0.81.0
release candidate means:
this is a version, which is a candidate to become a release version.
in other words:
we plan to make this version the next release/official version, which is the version you need to play online.
therefore, it is very important that you report problems (like crashes) you have with this version. this is, in fact, the only purpose of this version.

Re: V0.81.0
You need to delete ArchiveCacheV7.lua from Spring's root, and then select a map that's definitely in your maps/ directory.ERROR in C:\Programmi\Spring\ArchiveCacheV7.lua: could not open file: C:\Programmi\Spring\ArchiveCacheV7.lua
Scanning: C:\Documents and Settings\DaRioLLo\Documenti\My Games\Spring\maps
Error opening C:\Documents and Settings\DaRioLLo\Documenti\My Games\Spring\maps\neurope_a7.sd7: Archive not found
Re: V0.81.0
Just force it and let the spring community test :)

translated stack trace:
http://buildbot.eat-peet.net/spring/sta ... 09408.html
edit:
this may be a bug, or it is becuase you copied this file from your old spring install.
you should not do that! delete it.
this file is generated by spring at start.
Argh.. i don't see what problem you see there, and why he woudl need portable version.

Re: V0.81.0
you do not need it, and you should not always quote the last post, use the "Post Reply" button instead (here in the forum).
did you try to delete the ArchiveCacheV7.lua file and run again?
if so, please give stack trace again.

Re: V0.81.0
ok sorry for the "quote"...
now I deleted the .lua file
I double-clicked on Spring.exe (without .lua file in spring directory) but spring didn't start.
infolog is refreshed but show only a little.
see it.
( EDIT )
So..i tryed do rename the "my game" directory and now spring run correctly.
And .lua file was generated...
Probably some map or mod cause some problem ????

Re: V0.81.0
hmm.. strange....
could have soemthing to do with access rights.. but as you are on Win XP.. i though that only matters on Win Vista or 7.
anyway.. i once had a problem with stuff under My Games/Spring/, i solved it by moving all the files (eg, first maps, then mods) into a different folder, and moving them back. this problem only existed for maps/mods that were installed with the archive mover.
it was on win XP too.
well.. nice it works for you!
and thanks for the infologs!
do not worry about the quote thing
good you posted infolog as an attached file!
stack trace of the last(3rd) crash:
http://buildbot.eat-peet.net/spring/sta ... 13385.html
looks like the same thing as the first one.

Re: V0.81.0
ok i think why there was this problem.
i'm working on a mod and into the "my game/mods" i have some .sd7 and .sdz files... BUT i have some other directories of my work in progress (inside "my game/mods")...
now i moved out all of this directory from "my game/mods" ( but not the sdz and sd7 files ) and spring work correctly now!...
strange this..
in 0.80.5.2 didn't have this problem.

Re: V0.81.0
No. You must delete this file, and let Spring recreate it.daryl wrote:i had no ArchiveCacheV7.lua file installed in spring (0.81) directory!!

Re: V0.81.0
yes i see but was not this the problem!zwzsg wrote:No. You must delete this file, and let Spring recreate it.daryl wrote:i had no ArchiveCacheV7.lua file installed in spring (0.81) directory!!

the problem was some directories of my WIP that i created under "my game/mods".
Without they, spring work correctly...if i re-copy this directories under "my game/mods" Spring don't work.
EDIT: Specifically -> the directory that cause this problem is named "unità" ( "units" in english ) and contain some OTA units ( non compressed and compressed .ufo and .hpi files ).

so...
now i go to sleep...
thx of all!!!
good night!!!..
bye bye!!!
