I have played TAUCP on SPRING already, but its very buggy. I you want to try just put the TAUCP UFO file in your Sprind dir.

I'm trying to convert the WWII mod (I forget what it's called... But I love it. :D), but when I'm done I'll do TAUCP.

It's really not all that hard to convert from TA to Spring.

What i was wondering...

How serious is that damn 2048x2048 texture size issue?
Those mods use MANY more units than OTA... how much headroom is there, usually?

It's not too serious. I don't know the pixelcount in OTA tex, but it's not much. There's quite a bit of room there.

Once they get some singleplayer working, you can do the copy+paste .ufo's for addon units just like OTA.

It depends, doing a raw conversion is very easy: eh, just put all the files of a TA mod into Spring folder, without any change, and most of it will work. Converting custom texture takes a couple second. But ensuring everything works fine and fixing all that doesn't is very hard and very time consumming.

Not to mention balance finetuning...
Springs Mex-radius and auto radar targeting alone is enough to seriously confuse things....

working on converting TAUCP

Post by Conxion528 »

I'm working on converting TAUCP 2.3 to work on Spring...

It's crashing Spring on game-start. These are the errors printed out in the infolog.txt when I run the game (and crash out...)

***

Warning to many unit categories 33 missed jam
couldnt find unit armhp
couldnt find unit armvulc
couldnt find unit armanni
couldnt find unit armatl
couldnt find unit armuwfus
couldnt find unit armason
couldnt find unit armplat
couldnt find unit armckfus
couldnt find unit armmmkr
couldnt find unit coratl
couldnt find unit coruwfus
couldnt find unit corason
couldnt find unit corplat
couldnt find unit cordoom
couldnt find unit corbuzz
couldnt find unit corhp
couldnt find unit corvipe
couldnt find unit corplas
couldnt find unit corckfus
couldnt find unit cormmkr

***

I have a feeling those missing unit errors are because TAUCP depends on TA:CC content. How can I import TA:CC content? I tried copying the contents of ccdata.ccx into my mod, but that caused more errors than it fixed. Is that the way to go?

I was told that the unit category error isn't a fatal one, so I'll worry about that last....

Thanks for any help you all can provide.

Is it AATA? If so, you may want to check this thread.....

I believe you can make a content file, but the SYs may be the best people to ask. We have OTA content files for use in the engine, XTA and AA rely upon then...
