really? are you willing to do ANYTHING? for example would you be willing to buy yourself a different computer and/or video card and/or install a different operating system? are you willing to pay for one of use forumers to fly out to your location and assist you in installing and using spring?

not that you'd have to, I'm just being unhelpful and sarcastic.

Best way to get help would be to post your PC specs (OS, CPU/RAM, VideoCard).

Also, try starting the other lobby (should be under Start>[OSEquivalentOfAllPrograms]>Spring>Multiplayer>... try both of the listed lobbies)

as he describes it, he is using spring.exe directly, not using any lobby, and that is all of the problem really. make sure you start SpringLobby (or TASClient, if you have that). they are separate exe files in the spring folder. if you dont have them, install spring again, and make sure at least one of them is getting installed (checkboxes).
if you are on linux, and sintaleld through a package manager, like Synaptic or apt-get, SpringLobby shoudl be under Applications - Games - SpringLobby.

The single player experience is pretty basic at the moment. No fancy campaign experience, just playing standard games against ai.

In spring lobby you should see a "single player" tab. From there you can select which mod and map you want to play. Add a bot (I recommend RAI to start as it works with basically anything, or chicken defense if you are playing CA). Then you should be good to go.

The best experience come from the excellent multiplayer experience. But starting against bots is a good way to go. I didn't start playing online until I could face a couple bots and win in single player, and it really helped me through my newbie experience.

Kernel Panic has missions. Few, and not fun, but still. Kernel Panic has a skirmish generator that is easy to use and does not suffer from the non-sense of relying on multiplayer lobbies. Using Spring.exe directly is not a problem for Kernel Panic. In fact it is a solution. RAI cannot play everything. It doesn't crash or stand still on 95% of mods like AIs that requires profile (which should just be axed from installer, frankly), but it still confused by mods that aren't just TA rebalances/reskins. The online experience is not the best experience. It it as painful as a standard multiplayer experience: Waiting for hours to get a game to start, getting kicked without a word, having to download a hundreds megabytes for each game, and then getting rushed, stomped, and laughed at by people who have eleven more years of experience.
