Feature request: Unitcounter

Post by IMSabbel »

It would be very usefull to see how many units you own. Especially if you are about to run into the unitlimit.

And IF you run into it, right now nothing happens... the factories and builders just stop working (which can be a bad surprise).
Maybe some "unitlimit reached" with a beep or so wouldnt hurt....

Another smallish thing would be a kill/losses counter, maybe when the You Won!/Lost! message appear that the score is displayed...

Well, the new GUI has all kind of stats you can wish for...
(energy/metal spend/wasted/mined, units created/killed), as a graph over time, plus you can select total or change to be displayed...

But a unicounter is still missing. The debug screen only shows total unit count. Also, with new mods coming out, something like the old f1 key (only more powerful) would REALLY help. (like showing ALL important stats of the selected unit: like weapons (with damage/reload), speed, turnrate, maxclimb, ect)

Has the B key stopped showing unit count?

Have you EVER looked what the b key actually does?

It shows the TOTAL unitcount of all players....

Oh come on... THis isn't such a hard problem about knowing how many units you have. Just pres Ctrl A and it selects all the units you have at that moment and gives you a number. THat's how I do it! Then all I have to do is remeber what the unit limit was. (Usually something close to a multiple of 500 which simplifies what numbers I have to remember.)

I would also like it if when I selected a team it would still tell me how many units are in that team. Else I have to press Ctrl Z and that only works if I didn't want to select any fresh units (replenishments that would be clumbsy to send into battle at that time.)

And I want Ctrl S (select all units on screen) reinstalled, that was what I used to use to compensate quickly in OTA>.. ANd it would make things somewhat easier. Better perhaps if it was like Ctrl Z but was confined to the current units on screen, that'd be perfect. (I mean if a unit counter wasn't added to the side bar when selecting a team number.)

You can easily define some hotkeys using selectioneditor.exe that does what you want.

I am trying to change as little as possible in the GUI until the new_gui is finished so there might be a while until there is any changes in that.

Use the selection editor.
I just noticed it a few days ago, but you can create any kinds of hotkey.

Want shift-u select all ships with weapons of a range greater than x in s distance greater than y?
Want shift-b select all bombers (but not fighters) on the map?
No problem in doing so....
