Is it just me, or do units firing at radar blips hit the same spot consistently? I understand that, unlike in TA, units in TA:S automatically fire at radar blips. It makes sense to balance this out by making units inaccurate while firing without a LOS to the target.
However, I was watching a replay of a game with a friend today when I noticed something. Three of my Slashers were firing at a stationary enemy minelayer that strayed too close to my base. The Slashers did not have direct LOS to the target, so I expected my Slashers to take more time than usual demolishing the minelayer. However, when I watched the replay it became clear that not only did the Slashers not directly hit the enemy minelayer, but they hit the same piece of ground beside the minelayer, missing it every single time. The Slashers did the barest damage to the minelayer every shot. This gave my enemy enough time to complete the construction of a mine, reclaim it, and then drive away without losing even 10% of his health!!
Another instance was when the enemy was shelling me with his Punisher. He was attempting to hit my Geothermal Plant by radar from on top of a hill, and his Punisher hit the exact same plot of dirt that was sitting right in front of my Geothermal Plant every single time. My Geothermal took no damage from the shots until his Punisher actually dug a hole beside my Plant deep enough to finally have the shells hit the ground right underneath my Plant (which then started taking the proper amount of damage and exploded).
So after witnessing these events, this question has been on my mind. Are units firing with radar simply given fixed offsets of their target's true position? It seems very likely, seeing how a unit firing with radar misses his target not only consistently, but hits the very same plot of land near his target every single time. This pretty much guarantees that units firing at radar blips can only hit large targets (read: buildings).
When units fire at a stationary target on radar, they don't spray the target and leave the land around it cratered (like WWI city-killing artillery does). Instead, they just hit the same spot beside the target, missing the victim by exactly the same amount every shot. Huh?

Feature. When detected under radar, the position is not perfectly detected and units sometimes fire at the wrong position.Tomato wrote:...
