Sync errors really on mod differences??

Post by Stealth870 »

Me and my friend both have clean installs of Spring, but for some reason he gets sync errors near the beginning of the game. We tried narrowing it down, solars build fine, mexes, but it looks like after a Flash or an Atlas the thing sync errors all over the place. Why is this? We have the exact same mod file for XTA, we even tried using the OTA mod to see if it helped but it continues. Why does this happen and does Spring have anything more useful then the little alphanumeric codes to help find the problem?

I got it once, when I played UH against someone and THEY buitl a unit that I didn't have, and I was getting sync errors. But in this case, we both are using clean installs of Spring :|

Are those clean install of spring in empty folders? Maybe you guys left some file laying around there...

Check this almost recent thread! It's about that very same issue.

Yes, having units or otherthings in .ufo files for example in the root of the spring folder will affect sync, but the lobby currently doesn't check this. We're thinking about doing a more thorough syncing though.

Ok, thx Fnord, that would help a lot :)

We both did pure clean reinstalls, all is well now. ^_^
