Republican health care plan: Open up the market so that private insurance can insure anyone from any part of the country. Put a stop to frivolous malpractice suits. Have a choice of shopping around for health insurance and comparing quotes and rates (as you can do right now with car insurance).

The vast majority of americans don't care for socialism. Why can't you worry about your own country and stop trying to shove something that you like down our throats?

Meh. It isn't socialism, truly. Even if it were, It is my belief that one entity receiving and using all the money is orders more efficient than a whole market of corporations jostling to make money off of your healthiness, so long as the one entity has your health, rather than its own ends, in mind.

What about this do you think will magically improve things?
Put a stop to frivolous malpractice suits.
Not a major source of expenditure. Note most decent countries don't have this problem.

Why can't you do that now? :o

Because I don't like to see people suffering in general and the US system causes a lot of that. :)

also the whole idea of a public option is that it's optional, you opt into it like medicare

On a more serious note

There sure needs to be healthcare reform, but put nicely said, what exactly is the rush here? We are talking billions of dollars here and we need to rush it? You know that the healthcare industry has gotten their hands dirty in the American politics, its why if you have no healthcare insurance and is of middle class or higher, you will be jailed and fined atleast 1900 dollars to 3800. (Aka, we know you make enough money, so we take it from you even if you won't need it because you make yourself enough money not to need insurance and would save you money most likely.)

That website http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/06/ ... ption.html plays very dirty politics.
"Creating a new public health insurance plan that anyone can purchase."

Support: 83% (53% strongly support)
Oppose: 14% (9% strongly oppose)
Well of course you wouldn't oppose it, if anyone can purchase, of course it doesn't talk about details, its a bias broken bent liberal website. Its unreliable so here to the big pile of shit website people actually believe represent the American people.

Much zzzs, I don't feel like explaining logic to someone who probably doesn't understand.

I disagree with whatever nonsense is currently going through the Senate Finance Committee, BTW. Fines + jail time for not buying health insurance while not making health insurance any easier to afford or actually making it help you in case of health problems is just hilarious and playing in to the Republican's hands.

You realise these are polls conducted by outside agencies and shit? He covers the problems with each outside of the poll. All I was trying to show is "doesn't want 'socialism'" is nonsense.

That last part actually translates to I am a dumbass and I'm tired but i think that website conveys much liberalism even if its nature good hearted, I don't think conservatives care to voice their opinions and if they (the stupid majority of conservatives) do they are running around on the internet saying obama is muslim and bowing to glenbeck nation.
Who are you? My name is Nate Silver and I live in Chicago. For additional background, please see here or here. The other contributor to this website, Sean Quinn, lives in Washington, DC.
I am skeptical, anything from Chicago is corrupt, and anyone who works in Washington DC is an intelligent criminal. The best go to DC and the worse go to jail. *insert your bawww*

Maybe what i ask tombomb is more sources please?

The public system does not prevent private companies doing what they already do, so why are you complaining? If anything your getting MORE choice, so of course if the private option is better, people will flock to it and ignore the public.

We here in britain have private healthcare too. We have the NHS sure, but what about Bupa? Or many others:

Private companies cannot possibly compete with the government. Before you immediately spring load to the "I Disagree" position, think about what competing with the government entails, it is not a simple black and white answer.

And Tombom... People in the US are FAR from suffering.

Also, liberal biased website is liberal and biased. But wait, if you post that link, it's obviously unbiased and contains absolute 100% unmarred facts because you're on that side of the fence, yet if I were to, say, post a link to the fox news website I'm all of a sudden a zealot? You can't have it both ways, no matter how hard you try

did you actually read the post? it was summarising a bunch of polls and saying 'liberal' ones are biased as well. i also posted some news sites with news on these polls. i mean i'm obviously an EXTREME-LEFT SOCIALIST by your standards but i try not to be like that all the time

also the problem is people in the us pay more for worse quality care. insured people can usually go to the doctor or whatever and it be paid alright but if you have something like cancer only the very best insurance would pay for it and they'd drop you like a stone afterwards. also, the talking point "faceless buereaucrats will decide your fate!" amuses me because that is what already happens. the current health system has far more bureaucracy than most UHC, where pretty much everything is paid for.

i hope you'll excuse the lack of cites here, i'll try and make it up tonight.

I do must say, all those websites you posted are left wing media controlled in America lol, heck you included CBS, thats like almost secretly ran by the government now, since all they do is kiss the presidents toes, lick the legs, and fill in the blank.
I think our health care is great, I haven't gotten sick and if I do I plan do die immediately.
Just like the banks, healthcare just needed alittle bit more regulation rather than a true open market. Government has and will fail because they go too extreme, they do too much, or not enough, and this case its a bit much, Obama only won with 51-53 percent of the vote of the population, and hes acting absolute like he was voted in by 80-100 percent of the population. All of these left wing media sources agree with Obama because they want to jump aboard a "Historical victory against Racism and the First Black President" and make him a great man even if hes radical, also he just so happens to be left winged like the media that wants Bush and Cheney tried for ridiculous torture on captives.

I here have the secret Democratic Plan:
1. Get healthcare Insurance, you must have it, at least the government healthcare Insurance.
2. If you make money over a certain percent and do not pay your government healthcare insurance even though you may have enough money not to need healthcare insurance, we will jail you and fine you for 2000-4000 dollars.
3. When you reach age 65 or get an expensive problem, we will not cover you, but will still in fact make you pay for healthcare insurance as they try and tell you it is not worth living anymore.
4. Profit???

@1 You should be happy for something like that.
@2 The same way as the financial crisis gets payed by the whole population a healthcare system should, too!
@3 And yeah, they are planning a zombie army with those ppls ...
@4 You are right it is a profit for the whole population.

PS: If someone makes financial profit, then the guys behind the present healthcare system ...
