Just gotta say I like this whole spring thing...makes me wish I knew anything about coding. I'm limited to what I learned in highschool; TurboPascal lol.
Anyway, I was thinking...and it may or may not have been thought of already...and I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.
This engine could make a fantastic WH40K RTS game, one more true to WH40K than Dawn of War, IMO.
It would take a lot of modeling and coding, but I'm pretty certain all WH40K races could be done well.
Anyone else like/dislike this idea?

Re: Yo
Is this thread an opportunity for me to post again those 3 years old screenshots of Reynald's models?
Lately Guessmyname was visited by thoughts of starting his WH40K Spring TC up again, so go with him.

Re: Yo
I'd like to see this. At one point I was going to do a WH40K game, then I was going to work with Guessmyname; however both of us are far too busy with other projects and hobbies to devote our full indy developmental powers to it. (also I think at one point some asshole came around trying to push his ideas/art like a shameless crack dealer and then I ran him off)
What it would need to succeed is atleast a couple of dedicated guys who between them have a fairly decent grasp at everything Spring development involves.
Honestly, though, if you personally want to have anything to do with it, you need to learn a "skill". Be it coding, text monkeying, game design, modeling/uvmapping, graphical artist, etc. That way, if/when you do go bug Guessmyname, you have something to contribute other than misplaced "ideas". :)
If you want an idea about what kind of "skills" are necessary to develop a game on the Spring engine, just crack open the .sdz file of any game or mod and look at all of the folders therein. Essentially, each folder equates to a specific skill. For instance, my "domain" is mainly the objects3D and unittextures folders, though I have been known to poke my head into the units, sounds, weapons, scripts and anims folders.
So, if you want to help... pick one. Throw darts, close your eyes and point, learn about each, whatever.
