Riverdale has always been one of my all time favorite maps in spring. There was a problem with the original though. The bottom team would always win because of imbalanced metal distribution.
Several years ago, Secure asked me to remake it, and even provided me with all the source files, however, those were lost long ago to a HD crash, and the fact that he wanted the metal distribution to stay the same. My immediate thought was "How does remaking it make any real sense in that set of restrictions?".
The other day I started thinking about it again, and decided on a course of action that I think everyone will like.
First of all, the heightmap is exactly the same as riverdale. No alterations whatsoever.
Secondly, the metal map is rebalanced for north and south. But even then I took it a step further. All the original metal spot locations are in the exact same places (give or take a few pixels, I did as best as I could with a screenie of f4 in spring and a photoshop overlay), but the extra spots were added in different locations to help the north expand.
As it was before, there was pretty much no reason for the north to expand very far past the river, which meant that the north always ended up with the disadvantage of having less metal overall and less occupied territory. Furthermore, once the north started getting pushed back, they had nowhere else to go, which meant that once the middle was broken, the game was over. Now, that should no longer be the case.
Even the geovents are in the same locations. The only thing I didn't re-add was the trees.
No point in posting slopemaps, as it is exactly the same as River Dale.
