Spring in Crossover Games?

Post by Alterscape »

After a long hiatus (yay gradschool) I'm interested in trying Spring again, except now the only machines I have at home are Macs. I have Crossover Games 8.0 on 10.6.1, but SpringEngineInstaller.exe hangs on the last file("zlibwapi.dll"), and then I get an error stating that "XTapeV959.sdz is not a valid map/mod, it may be corrupted, try to redownload it."

I was able to get the base Spring_0.80.4.2.exe to install fully, but when running Spring Module Updater to get some mods, I experience the same "XTapeV959.szd..." error.

Any thoughts on this?

well, without the zlib file Spring doesn't know how to open the map and mod archived format... unfortunately that doesn't really help you at all... there was a mac version in the works that you should be able to find somewhere around here... the only reliable way to run SPring on a mac is using Windows or Linus.

Thank you for the info folks. I have an MSDN subscription through my educational institution, so I may just end up with Bootcamp/Windows.
