Some guidelines on improving performance.

Post by GrOuNd_ZeRo »

Terrain LOD on 32 helps alot, switching off High Res and Dynamic clouds also help alot.

Ofcourse the most obvious ones such as shadows and reflective water can also affect gameplay quite a bit.

with all these turned off I get 90fps which is pretty damn good, 30fps with shadows enabled...

Also, if shadows appear weird, try switch off fullscreen :)

hope this helps some users struggling with performance.

Actually, I could use some help spoiling myself. I can't get shadows because the game says

I'd say that would be because your graphics card doesn't support the functions used for shadows...

my graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200, and it was pretty good as of not too long ago (I think). Think it's just an old driver? I haven't updated done any driver updates in ages, and I forgot how I go about doing it too.

I had that problem before I updated the driver on my Geforce FX Go5300 with a modified Nvidia driver, but still shadows only work if I enable high res clouds.

shadows rely on high res clouds? I will deffinitely need to try that when I get home!
