Rebuffing the Dragon's Eye (Cameras)

Post by YokoZar »

Cameras were nerfed a while back due to the fact that they were amphibious and sonar stealth, which made them completely impossible to find in the water even after the player had no energy left. This made them a great griefing tool in the days before team comm ends mode.

So, the camera was made land-only, although it's still on the conship's build menu.

I have a simpler suggestion: make the camera a hovercraft. Somehow that just feels more intuitive.

I agree, hover would be nice.

could also just give it jamming instead of of the stealth tag. That fixes the DUR HUR invisible problem when they are underwater.

(found this out when EE first got its amphibious units, herp derp invisible torpedo tanks are broken)

Make it underwater again, but, program it to not count as a building?

One simple variable change would make a difference.

Of course, assuming Spring programmed a building count by how many buildings were created & destroyed with a seperate variable.

If it isnt programmed that way... then the programmers pseudocode really fucked up on that one...

Any way of making it so the minelayer doesnt spend 1min+ making these?

Agreed... Specially because you can't get more minelayers to help. >.>

Its 40-50 sec when not stalling iirc... But still too long usually. Would raising the buildpower of the minelayer and increasing buildtime of mines be valid solution to do that?

I think so, as AFAIK the only units that build mines are minelayers, decoy comms and con-seaplanes.

Would it really be such a bad thing if minelayers could actually lay mines reasonably quickly? Iirc, the only reason minelayer buildpower sucks is because they used to be able to assist and repair.

Is that so? Ah. Yes, then I would see nothing wrong with increasing its buildpower a bit.

Camera is one of my favorite underused BA units. Also now that teamcomends mode is here, lets undo the nerf. I really like it underwater. I miss rushing cams on the enemy water... sniff

Edit: Yes buff minelayer too. I will use it if you buff it, which is really saying something because there are very few units in BA I actually use. (atlas, commander, dgun, peeper, cloakable fusion, sneaky pete, beamer, cloakable mex, sniper, and pewee/flash)

The 3-5 sec for heavy mine is not fast enough?

And minelayer is not a bad unit at all, just pretty micro heavy

I'm a tremendous fan of mines. May as well buff the layers, the counters will always be effective.

halve their cost, make them a mobile unit, make cloaking on them free, and give them a gaat gun weapon.
