Searching for a book AND a game (not connected)

Just wonder if anyone could remember it, been reading it several years ago :

A book is basically about the space marines, a guy with his girlfriend sign up for the space troopers (and not not the starship troopers film/book) and are separated, she flies to Sirius, he is sent to some other planet, which is inhabited by aliens, who have the humans as their slaves (the theory of the book is that human race are just those slaves who were accidentally left on the planet by the aliens).

They come there, take the land, there is a huge mountain which shoots down some of their spaceships, they have to blow it up by nuclear charge and finally establish sensible contact with the race. Space marines are mainly using lasers, aliens have all weird forms, and gauss guns.

Game is completely irrelevant to the book, but I didnt want to create a separate topic for it,

Its quite similar to the annihilation, as in that you build a building with a bot which comes to it and has something close to nanospray, but it just "wiggles" its arms in front of it to build the building.

When you start you usually have a huge bag-like big building which is used as a drop-off for the resources. There are 4 tech levels, each having its own constructor, every next one is bigger than the previous one. Game in presenation is nearlly exact copy of BA with different units and more tech levels basically.

The larges bot was a huge walking mech who could crash with his hands, had 6 pink missiles and something else.

I can barely remember the game, but I remmeber having lots of fun with it. You needed to build different derricks (depending on tech level) on the resource spots, and you could drive into some buildings with the units as well as fps them.

Edit : and you needed to have resource gathering cars going from derricks back to the big "bag" or another resource drop off to be able to utilise the resources.
