Spring doesnt create anymore replays

Post by FaerieWithBoots »

Hi,

I have the following problem.
Like the topic says, spring doesnt create anymore replay files. I use TASClient and it asks me if i want to save/upload the replay but no matter what option you choose the replay file isnt created.
I tried to reinstall spring multiple times, but that didnt fix it. Then tried to clear the registry of old TASclient references, but that didnt fix it either.

Has someone encountered a similar problem or has any idea where the problem might come from?
Any feedback would be appreciated, thx in advance :-)

try to change in TASClient settings: "[ ] ask after every game what to do with replays" uncheck the box. then try if it makes the replay...

Or, you are on vista with really restricted permissions on your spring folder, maybe try to install somewhere else than "c:\program files\", so try to install to d:\ etc...

It will create them in your Documents and Settings folder instead.

I tried this unfortunatly nothing changed.

thats right, i am on Vista. I reinstalled srping on a different drive (it wasnt in my program files folder before but it was still worth a try).
To bad this didnt fix it either.

I noticed a couple of other things today. When i start TASClient the following happens:
I get a error messages : "lobby\SPThemes\default.ssk not found"
I am asked if i want to load some missing mini maps i press 'yes'
then the message "lobby\var\tips.txt not found" appears.
I can log in to the spring server.
Now when i want to host a battle none of the minimaps are loaded, if i do an error for each map present is reported in $local like

[18:14:21] Error writing to cache: lobby\cache\maps\D1A449B4.info
[18:14:21] Error writing to cache: lobby\cache\maps\C2BDB815.info
[18:14:23] Error writing to cache: lobby\cache\maps\D1A449B4.mini
[18:14:39] Error writing to cache: lobby\cache\maps\C2BDB815.mini

To me this looks like as if TASClient is trying to write files to a nonexistant location, since both replay files and newly made minimap files cant be written, also both files wich were reported missing are present .The question is were or how to find were TASclient gets its folder paths from. Or maybe someone recognizes the errors and know whats causing them.

grtz

those lobby errors like "lobby\var\tips.txt not found" can be fixed by redownloading the newest Spring version, then installing Spring with TASClient lobby checked in the installation wizard (its not checked by default!)

Did you uninstall the previous Spring version before re-installing it again? If not, uninstall it first, then re-install by those instructions gave above.

And again, install to a drive that isnt protected by Windows Vista. (something else than C: to be sure about it...)
