Proper way of quitting / force quitting Spring

Okay, does /quit still quit Spring? How exactly are you supposed to bring up the quit or resign dialog from the console?

Brings up the quit menu, regardless of the gamestate

Well that's weird. I was attempting to quit Sping a few hours ago and /quit wasn't bringing up any menus. I thought I was crazy. I'll get you the infolog and replay later.
