As a returning player i got a few quick questions
I play spring only on singleplayer, i've never gotten a very noob-friendly image of the online(and i'm not that good at the game in any case), so is the singleplayer working already?(bots that is, i read after searching that they didn't work or something)
Also are the explosion physics still in the game(s)(robots get propelled around from big explosions), that was my favourite thing in the spring engine, and really one of the few reasons i'll rather play it than TA with mods(and destructible terrain!)
Thanks.

Re: Some newbie questions
Multiplayer in spring behaves identically to single player. In truth there is no real distinction; single player games simply have AI players instead of humans.
Re: Some newbie questions
Yes, the bots work currently. RAI and KAI that come with installer work OK, and you can dl working AAI somewhere in the forums.
Use Springlobby Multiplayer tab to host a new game with AI's, (put a password when hosting a game so noone enters). Switch to Map tab and select "choose before game" option on your right, then you can position each bot and yourself manually.
For tougher game give bots 20-50 % bonus. Better to play smaller maps (8x8) since on bigger maps they can be really tough.
Enjoy.

Re: Some newbie questions
it would be a lie to call most spring mods and games noob-friendly; but i think that if you get confident enough playing vs. AI players, try speccing a few games of humans or download some replays from http://replays.adune.nl/
good luck and good gaming!
edit : chicken or spacebug mode is great fun single player, might want to look into that as well

Re: Some newbie questions
Thanks for helping out, i'll try those out :)
Re: Some newbie questions
Some mods have made an effort to be n00b friendly - CA has the Nubtron, and Kernel Panic is just dead simple. Both of which have built-in single-player modes to boot.

And as mentioned before, the chicken AI in CA is really fun for singleplayer. CRAIG in S44 is also a good challenge (difficulty can be changed as well, depending on your skill)
