The .xvid file

Post by AF »

I have a movie in a file with a .xvid extension

VLC Mediaplayer classic, windows media player, the latest XVid codecs, renaming the extension to .avi have all succumbed to the might that is the unplayable .xvid file.

How the f*ck do I play this thing?!

I read XVid with VLC fine. You probably just have a corrupt file.

I've had VLC play an Xvid file with corrupted headers... it spent like 3 minutes analyzing the file and then started playing it.

If you have an xvid file that's not playing in VLC then that file is probably not actually an xvid file.

Doesn't really matter if it's incomplete as long as the header is intact

VLC media player uses its own codecs and has played pretty much everything I've ever sent at it. If VLC can't play it, it's probably the fault of the file.

I expect its a bad file, notepad++ borks opening the 900mb behemoth though. Mediaplayer classic just says it cannot render the video, VLC just loads it btu doesnt do anythign when you press play, or show a timeindex
