Tasclient.exe missing? How to run a game.

Hi.

I decided to play some Total Annihilation for a change. Checking wikipedia for some information i learned about Spring. Because i am a RTS fan i tried to get spring with a random mod running. But i failed :/

After some time reading FAQ and readme files with no result i wonder if i get any help here.

I downloaded and installed the Spring Engine 0.79.1 . The Read Me First wants me to start a Program called "TASClient.exe" which does not exist:


So i manually downloaded the mod Expand and Exterminate to the mods folder and tried to start it via spring.exe. I selected the mod but got the error message no map found.

So i downloaded the map supreme battlefield to the maps folder.

I started the spring.exe, chose the mod Expand and Exterminate, the air combat test script and selected the map supreme battlefield. Game is loading, hooray!

The game is starting, is see a countdown counting down from 3 to 1 and then the game crashes with following error log:

Can someone help me get any mod running?

use springlobby it's just the same

EE might be outdated....
#1 try loggin in using springlobby.
#2 try a different mod like say Supreme Annihilation.
It's one of the closest mods to TA gameplay.

Sorry about that, the "read me first" page is outdated. I'll get on to fixing that right away

The latest version of Spring (0.79.1 , your version) doesn't come with TASClient, it comes with SpringLobby as the multiplayer and single player lobby. Use that instead.
In terms of mods to play, I suggest to not play Expand and Exterminate (EE) , but instead try BA, NOTA or CA. Essentially, anything on the games page in theory should be fine, except for EE.

The 'Air Combat Test' is hardcoded to only work with TA mods (or anything which has the same unitnames for the planes) try using the 'Commanders' or one of the 'Skirmish AI Test' scripts.

Alternatively, use Springlobby.
