In earlier versions of spring springsettings had an option to disable/enable LuaUI. Don't know if it is there cause Im not at my PC right now!
If it's not then you will have 3 seconds to write what Falcrum said in the chat before the game starts... or at any other time!

It freezes as soon as its done loading the game.

Try moving everything out of spring/LuaUI/Widgets
Failing that, you need to post more details - maps mod version etc.
