Is it possible for the KAIK AI to make the engine take up enough CPU to bog down the entire system? I am experiencing a strange condition where a friend and I will be playing on a team against the AI, and when radar is built, or we progress a certain depth into the game, or irritate the AI enough and it spams us with units Spring bogs down to a crawl and my FPS goes down to 1, CPU usage goes through the roof (at times reading above 150%), and network latency skyrockets. The infolog shows nothing that implies the error. Here is my system info:
Windows XP Professional SP3
AMD Athlon XP 2800+, 1.5GB DDR
nVidia GeForce FX5200 256MB with latest drivers.
Spring 0.78.2.1
One line of concern in the infolog is:
Code: Select all
[ 0] You are missing the "ARB_shadow_ambient" extension (this will probably make shadows darker than they should be)
The reason I do not think this has anything to do with my current issue is that it never has before. My understanding is that ARB_shadow_ambient is an OpenGL function and I don't see how that would lock so much CPU because my GPU can't handle the shadows, and the system setup with hardware and software has been consistent OTHER than the fact that now the machine is enrolled in a SOHO domain. Of course I have updated the TASClient whenever it prompts me to do so, and I try to keep up-to-date on releases.
So far it affects all mods I've used (BA 6.92, CA s4460, MA 1.1, XTA 9.58).
Anyone have any ideas?
