Long story short, as mentioned before, I'm curbing my own texturing in leau of the fact that it just really isn't that good.
Kaiser will be texxing the terra side as well if no one will help (other than the few who have offered and I thank you for that). I am uvmapping the units, but the problem is that I'm ending up with a backlog of units that are done, but just need to be textured.
As mentioned, the units you texture will already be uvmapped so the real annoying part would already be done for you and all you would need to do is just texture the uv.
Any takers? This would alleviate a lot of stress on myself (and undoubtedly, kaiser as well).

I could do a few textures, how about you unwrap some of my CA models in return? Or the negotiator?

Re: Evolution RTS looking for more texture artists
Unwrap a few and we will see what I can do.

Unwrapping has got to be the least enjoyable step in the model making process. Even cob animation is slightly less irritating.
Re: Evolution RTS looking for more texture artists
heh.
as stated, i really dont mind doing the textures... but anyone feels up to the challenge of dealing with a whole faction as a project (or at least to do a large chunk of it with a consistent style) then the pressure is off me.
there are a few greeble sheets / psds available for anyone who's interested, so that you dont have to start from complete scratch; but really the bulk of the creative work in terms of faction styling is still up in the air.
all of the models are a reasonable number of polies (thx bumble) so it shouldn't be an uber herculean task.
for any newbies out there... i hadn't made any spring content other than maps prior to doing evo models; i had some uvw mapping experience, i made the models and forb took care of the rest; it was a lot of fun... so if you're standing at the edge of the pool, come on in... waters fine, its shallow, and its nice and warm near me.

I haven't followed closely who does what, but last time I peeked into Evo's need modellers thread, I saw a huge improvement in texture compared to the last Evo I played.

Hehe, possibly the biggest understatement of the century ;pzwzsg wrote:I haven't followed closely who does what, but last time I peeked into Evo's need modellers thread, I saw a huge improvement in texture compared to the last Evo I played.
Basically, the current stuff (What you would find in 1.09) fails miserably.
Thanks to kaiser, bumblebee, agom, pl, and various others, the new stuff is just made of win and awesome.

That's nice. Why is the water yellow?KaiserJ wrote:i made the models and forb took care of the rest; it was a lot of fun... so if you're standing at the edge of the pool, come on in... waters fine, its shallow, and its nice and warm near me.

heh, if you are interested, I can unwrap models for you. It takes about 2 hours to unwrap the model for me... there is example of one model from last months that i made and unwrap. It was planed to be a model for one mod, unfortenately I created better concept for such "thing" and model it last week. I'm now trying to make texture for the new model.
