Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
Sometimes shift+escape will instant quit - this makes some sense in bot games, or even 1v1s, since you won't be able to spectate after resigning.
However, when comm-sharing in a "1v1", there are times where you will decide you want to quit and would rather spectate the rest. Pressing shift+escape will instantly quit then too.
We should also reconsider making shift+escape instant quit in normal 1v1 anyway - a quitting player may want to see the end of game graphs, but he can't do that with shift+escape since he has no chance to hit the resign button.

Imho, quit menu should always show up for the reason yokozar given: specing and endgame graph.
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
lol yeah, i once was host and tried to resign, it did pop up the window and i resiged, worked well.
next time i tried to do that same while being host again, it quited the spring instantly o.o so... ehheh... that was embarrassing.
Also i have quited in accident few times, maybe i pressed the X button to close window, idk, but somehow i managed to close the game without knowing it.
Maybe it should pop up warning if you are about to close the game no matter what buttons you press? But not in singleplayer, replays, or etc. only in multiplayer... thats what matters the most. Or else i would get pissed off if i need to select "OK" every fucking time i want to quit a replay, or quit testing my map >_>

You are aware that you can CTRL+A and CTRL+D ?YokoZar wrote:We should also reconsider making shift+escape instant quit in normal 1v1 anyway - a quitting player may want to see the end of game graphs, but he can't do that with shift+escape since he has no chance to hit the resign button.
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
ctrl+a will work, but not always (eg EMPed unit). Regardless, expecting players who want to quit to use CTRL-A-D when there's a quit button is hardly an intuitive UI to have.TradeMark wrote:You are aware that you can CTRL+A and CTRL+D ?YokoZar wrote:We should also reconsider making shift+escape instant quit in normal 1v1 anyway - a quitting player may want to see the end of game graphs, but he can't do that with shift+escape since he has no chance to hit the resign button.

Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
FYI I don't seem to be able to quit the latest git build using the suggested Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Bug?

Tested, works for me.zerver wrote:FYI I don't seem to be able to quit the latest git build using the suggested Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Bug?
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
it's a predefined windows shortcut, unfortunately; it starts the process manager on xp and who knows what else on other windows. ctrl+esc and alt+esc are also taken. suggest changing default to something like alt+f4 ;p
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
That's right... Ctrl + Esc = Start Menu.
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
How about *gasp* escape, especially if it is only going to open a menu. Bonus points for making escape close the menu as well.
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
that's how it's in git now and it's bothersome when testing/debugging.
Re: Don't instant quit with shift+escape when comm-sharing
The ctrl+enter to start is also annoying at times. I see why it could be useful for some types of testing, but I'm considering to make an option for instant start.

This is what just about everyone expects to work, so why not make it actually work that way. (hell we even print a "no you should have pressed shift+escape message" for some reason)
