Adobe CS4

Post by Jazcash »

Just downloaded and installed Fireworks CS4 and am really impressed with it so far. Downloaded this plugin as well that can convert bitmap image web designs into the necessary HTML/CSS files. It's really awesome, great layout and design too.

I had Fireworks CS3 and was using that since MX 2004 but this really is a nice change, feels a lot smoother to work with too.

Anyone else got any CS4 stuff recently? Just wondering what other people thought about it.

The only thing I use fireworks for is to make animated gifs.

Photoshop ftw.

Adobe bought Macromedia, taking Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, etc.

Macromedia was originally their own company. They made Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and a few other things.

Then Adobe bought them. Now Flash, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver are part of the colossal vortex of overpriced suck that is Adobe.

And well you should - it's managed to keep Adobe afloat despite their incredible ability to destroy everything else they touch. Consider the magnificent power of Photoshop to outweigh the agony of Illustrator, Acrobat Reader, etc.

Yeh, Macromedia did a great job with the core structure of Fireworks but when Adobe bought it over, they pretty much just left it and failed it :<

But I'm pleased with CS4, got some nice features I've always wanted.

Go back further...
FutureSplash Animator was a software product for creating vector-based animations, the predecessor of Flash. It was developed by FutureWave Software, a small software company whose first product, SmartSketch, was a vector-based drawing program for pen-based computers.
In December 1996 Macromedia bought FutureWave, and FutureSplash Animator became Macromedia Flash 1.0.

Photoshop CS4 is fine, it's a pity that there won't be a standalone version of it again.
