NEW MAP: Marsbar

This small 8x8 map is best suited for intense 1v1 action. Vehicles can't climb the hills. The texture was made entirely in Photoshop. Enjoy!

Bars are not squares. They are rectangle shapes.
8*8 is a square shape. Therefore your map name is false and you sir, are a liar. A LIAR AND A THIEF!

Kinda nice concept... Good to see 1v1 maps here

The texture is a bit repeating and boring but meh, It's not bad...

Map looks a bit boring if one considers it as a piece of graphic. However, gameplay might be intresting especially as the hill setup reminds me about Verdant44. Also, it is a reference to Mars, which is another win. (but where are the impact craters?)

Please don't listen to his advice ;). I like the sort of "knitted cardigan" feel of the map :). Running Spring44 on it would be like playing with WW2 toys on a red rug, which can be fun as a change.

I really like the heightmap concept, but the texture just burns onto my retinas after too long.

The texture was made using photoshops own stone patterns. Didn't take too long, about 2 hours. The patterns are just a few pixel arranged in a square. Thats the reason for them being so repetitive. Grey stones make it look like cometcatcher. I prefer coloured maps :) Maybe creme or yellowish would work better. Anyways not all of mars is covered with craters ^^


The layout is meant to produce a variety to the usual 1v1 gameplays.

- First of all you don't start in the corners. Rushing your com to the enemy base is not rewarding as there's no metal in the center.

- Secondly vehicles can't get up or down the hills. You'd have to walk down to make a lab down low.

- You'll have to expand or you'll run out of metal fast.

- You won't be able to porc. Needs 3 BA llts to secure your starting hill :p

I think just making the current texture less vivid/more watermark so units are more visible on it would work fine, just too mcuh contrast in the texture atm

Good textures are not usually repeated. If you want a good texture, brush it yourself with a range of different brushes.

The texture makes my eyes want to bleed - and I'm disturbed to notice that the ultra-repeating pattern is not being detected by the tiling engine so the file size is still huge.

It's amazing how just the texture makes me switch from not liking a map to liking it. Change the texture to Behs version and I'll download :D

Looks better now! Even though, for a moment, I thought you inverted the heightmap around :D Couldn't figure out that the dots were hills but rather dips...
