as long as it isn't a distraction most bosses don't care.

some jobs get pissy about using inet for personal use at work (especially forums/blogs/facebook)
Im lucky that i got nice bosses and that im also in the IT section

I post from uni and both jobs...isn't an issue of any sort when there is no work to be done immediately.

I can't do any personal stuff really, which is why when I am at work it is always idle chatter. Most of the time I wait for the client to get back to me. If there is code to do, it is more interesting and I do that.

Why would uni mind? You pay them for your time.

I used to post from uni, haven't very much recently (not studying might be a related cause). I always used a different account for posting at school, since I wasn't sure how secure the school networks were, and I didn't want spring forum admin account passwords jumping around the internet.

Sometimes labs are restricted to where only people doing homework or other school related things on the computers are allowed to use the computers at certain times due to not enough computers being availible for all of the commuter students.CarRepairer wrote:Why would uni mind? I'm usually doing some sort of homework while on the computer and occasionally take a break to do other things (posting on forums being one of them) so I won't feel burnt out. You're suppossed to take breaks while studying for extended periods of time.

I don't usually post, but I check in from uni when I'm bored. Same situation as panda.
