New Map: Kiev_1944 (made with Frost's Spring Map Edit)

Post by SpikedHelmet »

Size/Type: 12x18 (North vs South)

Relatively few metal spots, but they have high metal output. Terrain is mix of flats and valleys with rolling hills and high ground. Rivers are shallow and can be crossed by everything.

This map is made for Spring: 1944 but will probably work with most other games and mods with little problem, although naturally the balancing I intended may change. This was a rushed test map to try out SME's features so excuse the odd crappiness here and there (like the black line on bottom-right edge of map...).

Big thanks to Frostregen for SpringMapEdit... best thing to happen to the Spring mapping community since Spring itself.

Get Kiev_1944 here!

Wow. If that's a 'rushed test map,' Spring Map Edit is the best thing since sliced bread.

Heheh, would look asinine with giant robot scaled units, so it's probably best left to PURE, 1944, and SW:IW.

IW needs to have Wookies hanging around the houses.

Do the roads have gameplay effect?

looks gorgeous!

did you use any external image editing software; or was it completed 100% in SME?

the houses are really cool.

100% in SME. I used PSP to create some additional texture brushes (ie a mud and road texture brush), but everything, from metal layout, heightmap editing, texture painting, feature placement/alignment, etc etc etc, was all done in SpringMapEdit in real time.

Anyone know the fix?

Dunno if springmapedit supports grass, but you might wanna add some since it looks quite good.

Texture transparency requires Reflective units be turned on in Spring Settings. I don't know why the two aren't seperated (probably because transparency and reflectivity are part of the same texture file).

but yeah, turn reflective units on and there you go.
