very strange connection problem.

Post by Theotherguy »

Okay, here's my problem, whenever I join a match, I am able to get ingame, but once I'm ingame, I can see everyone talking...but my own name is red in the players list...nobody can hear me speak, and eventually I get disconnected from the server. This happens every single time. Does anybody know whats going on?

Hi otherguy,

That was me you were trying to join. You said you had a router but couldn't forward the ports.

This is a website that is very helpful and also shows examples for every router on how to forward ports. Try it out: http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

I've had the exact same problem, read my post here:
http://taspring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1639

I'm guessing that that had something to do with long loadtimes on my part; I 'solved' it by setting the texture quality to the lowest.

actually, I think you're exactley right colorblind! The latest thing I did was set texture quality to highest, so that is probably my problem. And slayer, after I forwarded my ports I still had the problem. Thanks for the help guys

Guys, when you get an answer to a problem like this, it helps if you put it in the FAQ, that way the FAQ becomes more and more useful. The boards are good for discussions and transitory information, but it's useful to store anything long term in the Wiki - it's much easier to find it that way (or should be!)

I'll do this one if you want =)

Cheers
