Application Failed to initialize Properly

Post by HalfLucas2 »

When I try to run spring.exe on Windows Vista, I get the following error in a pop-up message:

Code: Select all

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application.
I opened the unitsync.log and saw this:

Code: Select all

unitsync initialized
Using read-write data directory: C:\Program Files\Spring\
ERROR in C:\Program Files\Spring\ArchiveCacheV7.lua: could not open file: C:\Program Files\Spring\ArchiveCacheV7.lua
Scanning: C:\Program Files\Spring\maps
Scanning: C:\Program Files\Spring\base
Scanning: C:\Program Files\Spring\mods
unitsync: hosting
unitsync deinitialized
----
So obviously my ArchiveCacheV7.lua file is somehow corrupted.
How could I fix this?

Note:
I have searched the forum and seen countless cases of similar errors, but half of them have not even been replied to, and the other half remain unsolved.
I believe that this is an error indigenous to vista, but I am not sure what should be done to fix this error.

Please, for the sake of everyone who has this problem, help me.
Thanks for reading this.

i've had the same bug since i've installed IE8b2 for tests. restarts, Spring reinstallations etc didn't work until i've uninstalled IE update. i'm affraid the next Spring release would require some additional "bugfixes" if MS won't fix the problem on their side... luckily last time it took them about a year to get from IE7b2 to official release and they've fixed most of bugs like this
