Got a new 24inch widescreen monitor...

This is the spring website... It's almost funny in a way.

use two browser windows side by side, and navigate both to spring. Take advantage of your space and read/respond to posts twice as fast and efficiently.

a fluid width page would still hurt when stretched so wide.

I generally run my browser at 1280x800

ctrl+mousewheel = win.

btw my friend has a 30" one. it's on the verge of being useful; playing games sucks since you either have to play in a window or cope with lots of pixelosis and sit quite far from the dispaly, otherwise your neck simply hurts. OTOH he can have 9 poker tables open without any overlap. whatever suits him.

Actually not really, reason being is the fact that fluid width pages nearly always have sidebars, so that provides paddign from content (took a look at springinfo and it looked really nice).

The way to combat that with a site that does not use sidebars is to set a percentage of say 75%. 75% being the maximum screenspace that it will take up, and it works very well on anything above 800x600 res. Below 1024x768 it looks a bit funky. but at 1024x768 it's roughly the same width that it is now (as far as wordspace).

It's really disconcerting to see this site on a large widescreen res tho. Almost kinda like getting a kick to the eye.

At any rate that's been debated to hell and back and I'm not trying to ressurect that argument, but damn... This place jsut doesn't look right at all.

But nothing, you ARE resurrecting that same line of complaining. Yeah good you like X layouts, good for you. Whether or not you realized it this thread is resurrecting that argument.

Well when I say that I intend it as an opinion, not an absolute fact. I am well aware that not everyone appreciates my opinion or my asshole, so feel free to dismiss.

God, 24 inches is fucking amazing. Played COD4 on max settings last night and pretty much creamed myself. Only 300 bucks (which for a flatscreen monitor of that size, is a steal)!

I didn't like any of the flatscreens bestbuy had to offer. All of them had shit view angles and color to contrast was acceptable but not worth what they wanted. Same goes for the shit monitors at circuit city.

Oh well, right now I have stuck with my shitty LGS

This is what I got. Be careful concerning stores like bestbuy or circuit city. Their policies generally are that they will not replace a screen that has less than up to 7 dead pixels, which is shit policy imo.

Microcenter's policy is that if you have even only 1 dead pixel you may return it for an exchange or refund.

Color Support 16.7 million
no matrix type anywhere, but at that price I'd guess it's a TN - which is nowhere near 24 bits.

Not so sure about that. With the posted response time, could be an S-PVA or MVA.

Better check tftcentral.

I generally don't play cod multiplayer much. Too similar to a goldfish bowl for my tastes, bf2142 is more my style.
